The 51-year-old woman who lived alone was found unresponsive when police conducted a welfare check at the Bongaree residence just before 9pm on Thursday.
Police declared the property a crime scene.
Detective Inspector Ben Fadian said there had been reports of a disturbance at the home about 11pm on Wednesday.
"The crime scene itself, as with all crime scenes, was very confronting for first responders," Det Fadian said.
Police had been called to the home a week before the woman's death and investigations continue into the circumstances.
Detectives are appealing to anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage in the vicinity of Melia Street between Wednesday and Thursday to come forward.
