TAS, established in 1955, is an incorporated body of co-educational independent Queensland secondary colleges offering interschool competition across a number of sporting and cultural activities.
Sheldon College is the 14th college accepted into the competition, with students demonstrating high-level success in their trial year across a range of sports in the TAS Greater Brisbane Conference (GBC) and Junior TAS Red Division.
The sports included swimming, cross country and track and field championships.
The local students also performed well in the TAS GBC premierships in 1sts netball, 1sts girls touch football, 1sts boys tennis and year 9 girls basketball.
Sheldon College director of sport David Savage said Sheldon’s acceptance into TAS created “marvellous opportunities” for the students to compete against their peers from some of Queensland’s most historic schools.
“Sheldon students have already demonstrated their ability to not only match it with their peers, but to be successful,” he said.
“That is an exceptional achievement when we are competing against schools that have decades of sporting experience and culture behind them.
“I have no doubt that the achievements of the Sheldon College sporting teams and students will soon populate the annual TAS Honour Rolls”.
