Bonner, held by the LNP’s Ross Vasta, is west of Capalaba and Thorneside and includes Wynnum, Tingalpa and Carindale.
Mr Vasta will recontest along with Jeff Penny (Family First), Jarrod Wirth (Uniting Australia Party), Dave Nelson (The Greens), James Derek MacAnally (Palmer United Party) and Laura Fraser Hardy (Australian Labor Party).
To the south of Bonner is Rankin, which is west of the Bowman suburbs of Sheldon and Mount Cotton.
The seat, held by outgoing ALP member Craig Emerson, covers
Rochedale South and Priestdale in the north to Daisy Hill and Meadowbrook in the south-east.
The six candidates to contest the seat are Neil Cotter (The Greens), Chris Claydon (Katter’s Australian Party), William Rogan (Palmer United Party), Jim Chalmers (ALP), David Lin (LNP) and Chris Lawrie (Family First).
Also to the south of Bowman is the federal seat of Forde, held by the LNP’s Bert Van Manen.
The seat got publicity this month, when Prime Minister Kevin Rudd named former Queensland premier Peter Beattie as the ALP candidate for the seat, ousting local Des Hardman.
Ten candidates will contest the seat including Mr Beattie and Mr Van Manen.
They are Jonathan Jennings (Rise Up Australia), Keith Douglas (Australian Voice), Blair Brewster (Palmer United), Joshua Sloss (Independent), Jan Pukallus (Citizens Electoral Council), Sally Spain (The Greens), Amanda Best (Family First) and Paul Hunter (Katter’s Australian Party).
The federal seat of Fadden borders Bowman’s southern suburbs of Russell Island, the southern tip of North Stradbroke Island, Redland Bay and Mount Cotton.
The LNP’S Stuart Robert has held the seat since 2007.
The eight candidates contesting the seat including Mr Robert are Petrina Maizey (The Greens), Jeremy Fredericks (Family First), James Patrick MacAnally (Palmer United Party) not to be confused with the candidate running for the federal seat of Bonner, Billy Lawrence (Katter’s Australian Party), Maurie Carroll (Independent), Stewart Boyd (One Nation Party), Nicole Lessio (ALP) and Stuart Robert (LNP).
Across the state, there are 82 senate candidates including The Greens Adam Stone and Family First’s Aiden McLindon, musician James Blundell and independent Greg Rudd.
There are two from the Animal Justice Party, six from the LNP, two Independents, two from the Australian Independents, two from the HEMP party, two from the Australian Voice Party, four from the ALP, two from One Nation, two from Australian First Party and two from the Socialist Equality Party.
The Australian Protectionist Party will field two senate candidates, two from the Building Australia Party, two from the Senator Online Party, two Liberal Democrats, two Stop The Greens, two from the Pirate Party, three from The Greens, two from the Stop CSG, two from the Stable Population Party, two Australian Christians, two independents, three Katter’s Australian Party and two Australian Republics.
There will also be two from Family First, two from the Australian Democrats, two from the Democratic Labour Party, two from the Sex Party, two from Shooters and Fishers, three from the Uniting Australia Party, two from the Rise Up Australia Party and two from the No Carbon Tax Climate Sceptics.
Australian Fishing and Lifestyle Party will field two candidates, and there will be three form the Palmer United Party along with two from Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party,two from Smokers Rights Party and two from the
Secular Party of Australia.
